What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual direction can be described as a holy listening for the voice of God in your daily life or in seasons of life. It is a three part relationship between the director, directee, and God to co-discern how the directee may grow in listening to the voice of love in the presence of a fully-attuned listener. A spiritual director is skilled in being curious, and can offer reflective questions, observations, and invitations as a companion to the directee as they long for deeper knowledge of themselves and God. One need not know fully what their longing for God means or points to, only an awareness that something is stirring within you to act and find out more. For this reason, spiritual direction can be considered a ministry of clarification and hospitality. I became a director to companion others on their journey of faith, as I myself experienced so much healing, joy, and peace as I learned to recognize God's voice in my life through direction.
